Why Practice Qigong

When we begin to practice qigong, we almost immediately feel the gentle stretching, realignment, and improved circulation happening in the body. Even at the end of a long day, moving some qi leaves us feeling more refreshed and rejuvenated. As we start practicing more regularly, we develop a stronger sensitivity for qi flow and direction and gradually reincorporate forgotten, tense, or painful parts of our body.

Qigong is an excellent complement to most any other exercise routine. By realigning and lubricating the joints, qigong helps to prevent injuries and improves the body's mechanics. Agility improves as we learn to use our body more fully, freely, and mindfully. Our movement through space becomes more efficient and more graceful.

Finally, as we deepen our practice, we begin to see our functionality in life at large gently and gradually improving. Our mood, on the average, becomes sunnier; the mind sharpens; a greater ease develops in handling daily routines as well as higher stress situations. Our health improves, and many chronic conditions abate. Moreover, the practice of qigong itself opens ever new horizons as we discover previously unexperienced nuances, effects, and potentialities in the forms that we practice.

Qigong can be practiced by almost anyone and can fit well even into situations of limited time or space. How far to go on in the practice of qigong is up to each of us individually, but we can be sure to experience its benefits at every level where we find ourselves.
